The Macallan 25 Year Old Anniversary Malt 1975 is produced at The Macallan Distillery in Craigellachie, Speyside, Scotland. This expression was distilled in 1975 and bottled in 2000 after 25 years of maturation in sherry oak casks. The whisky is bottled at 43% ABV.
The 1975 vintage represents the final vintage-dated release in The Macallan Anniversary Malt series. The Anniversary Malt series began in 1983 with the 1957 vintage and ran through 2004, with 18 different versions released featuring vintages from 1957 to 1975. The series was designed to showcase specific vintage years with 25 years of maturation in sherry oak casks.
On the nose, bright and fruity characteristics are present with ripe peach, dried apricot, red berries, cinnamon, clove, and seasoned oak. The palate offers rich caramel, dark chocolate, nutty almond, and a creamy mouthfeel. The finish is long and satisfying with toasted oak and warm vanilla.
The Macallan 25 Year Old Anniversary Malt 1975 is presented in a standard clear glass bottle with a stopper cork, featuring a distinctive red outlined “25” on the label along with both the distillation year and bottling year printed at the bottom. The bottle is housed in an original wooden presentation box. Bottle sizes vary by market, with 70cl bottles released for the UK market and 750ml bottles for the US market.
This whisky is commonly enjoyed neat to appreciate the character developed over 25 years of maturation in sherry oak casks.
