Description
The Macallan M is produced at The Macallan Distillery in Craigellachie, Moray, located in the Speyside region of Scotland. The whisky is distilled using small copper pot stills characteristic of The Macallan and undergoes double distillation. The spirit is crafted from seven specially selected casks that were matured in sherry-seasoned oak casks sourced from Jerez, Spain.
The component whiskies in The Macallan M include casks dating back to the 1940s, representing predominantly European oak sherry cask maturation. The whisky carries no age statement and contains no artificial or caramel coloring, displaying a natural amber to gold color. The production represents a collaboration between The Macallan, Lalique, and designer Fabien Baron.
On the nose, dried fruits, vanilla, green apple, ginger, nutmeg, cinnamon, polished oak, and resinous oranges are present. The palate offers rich wood spices with viscosity and wood smoke. The finish is long and full with raisin, sultana, dry oak spice, and citrus.
The whisky is presented in a hand-blown Lalique crystal decanter featuring a modern geometric design. Each decanter is individually engraved and numbered, includes a crystal stopper, and is housed in a deluxe presentation box. The clear crystal showcases the natural color spectrum of the whisky, ranging from deep amber to bright gold.
The initial release was limited to 1,750 decanters globally, with the expression produced in limited quantities as part of the ongoing range. This whisky is commonly enjoyed neat to appreciate its complexity and craftsmanship.
