Description
The Last Drop 1925 Hors d’Age Grande Champagne Cognac represents Release No. 14 from The Last Drop Distillers. This cognac was distilled in 1925 at a Grande Champagne distillery and remained untouched in its original casks until discovery during renovation work in 2017. The casks had been hidden in the late 1930s and were bottled in 2018, the year founder Tom Jago passed away, who was born in 1925.
Aged approximately 93 years before bottling, this Hors d’Age expression from the Grande Champagne region displays a mahogany color with burnished copper highlights. The cognac is bottled at 48.4% ABV and presented in 70 cl bottles, each accompanied by a 50 ml miniature sample.
The nose reveals floral notes alongside fruity hints of red and black fruits. On the palate, very ripe exotic fruits emerge, including mango, jackfruit, mangosteen, and papaya. These fruit characteristics are complemented by mellow oak flavors that maintain power without astringency.
Only 182 bottles of this Grande Champagne cognac were produced, each individually numbered. The presentation includes a custom-made wooden stopper and leather case. This 1925 vintage cognac is typically enjoyed neat to appreciate the complexity developed through nearly a century of maturation in its original casks.
